Playback Theater Workshop
An Introduction to the Playback Improv Process

This is a chance to play, have a fun challenge and experience new ways to express your creative spirit. Take part in dramatizing someone else’s story or tell your own. No acting experience needed.

Playback Theater is an original form of improvisational theatre in which personal stories are transformed into theater pieces by using movement, music and spoken word.

Continuing Education:*Continuing Education: 4 CEUs for MFT, LCSW & RN. ($15 additional fee). Provider approved by CA Board of Registered Nurses #CEP 11733 & CA Board of Behavioral Science for MFT and LCSW, Provider #947.

Marti Holtz is an award winning playwright, a veteran of 25 years in the performing arts as a featured actor in Shakespeare festivals, cabaret, and street and political theater. Marti has created numerous theater based learning experiences for adults, children, corporations and disadvantaged populations. He is Associate Artistic Director of Bay Area Playback Theatre.

Sylvia Israel, MFT (MFC 31245), Certified Psychodramatist/Applicant-for-Trainer (CP/PAT), Registered Drama Therapist/Board Certified Trainer (RDT/BCT), is the founder and director of IMAGINE! Center for Creativity and Healing. She teaches at Sonoma State University and the California Institute of Integral Studies and has presented at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Her work blends verbal therapy, drama therapy and other expressive arts. Sylvia specializes in grief and loss, blocks to creativity, trauma and childhood abuse recovery. She is past President of the Northern CA Chapter of the National Association of Drama Therapy. Sylvia maintains a private practice in Marin and San Francisco.
